Alt-J, CHVRCHES, Avett Brothers, Walk The Moon, Hozier to play September’s Boston Calling

The Pixies are just about to hit the stage to close out the spring 2015 edition of Boston Calling, but the sounds of September are already ringing through the air.

Between sets by the hometown headliner and Tenacious D, Boston Calling announced its September 25 to 27 lineup, and it’s got something for everyone: The Avett Brothers, alt-J, Alabama Shakes, Hozier, Of Monsters and Men, Chvrches, Ben Howard, Chromeo, Walk The Moon, Nate Ruess, Father John Misty, Sturgill Simpson, Misterwives, Daughter, Twin Shadow, Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks, Doomtree, FIDLAR, The Staves, Grizfolk, Bully, and Boston’s Dirty Bangs and Grey Season.

The announcement was soundtracked by CHVRCHES’ “The Mother We Share,” which may have drawn the loudest cheer from the 20,000 in attendance at City Hall Plaza.

“With this talented and diverse lineup and our new, later dates, September might be our most exciting festival yet,” says Crashline Productions founder Brian Appel in a presser.
