Theatre of Strain: Listen to Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil sing the National Anthem

So Vince Neil sang the National Anthem the other night at Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Center before the Arena Football League’s Outlaws’ home opener, and it’s pretty much what you expect from the Mötley Crüe frontman in 2015. Why was he even up there singing before an AFL game to begin with? Well, because he co-owns the team. Why wasn’t there a backing track so he could only sing a word or two every five seconds, like he does these days during Crüe shows? Because that’s not how “The Star Spangled Banner” works.

Check out the video below; it gets going around the 5:15 mark, and even the dancers behind him can’t keep a straight face. Neil isn’t even trying.

The Las Vegas Outlaws are an AFL expansion team, and Neil certainly has a vested interest in the team’s success. We just don’t know if he should be up there singing anthems not called “Home Sweet Home” or “Dr. Feelgood.”

The Crüe, by the way, play Worcester’s DCU Center on August 15, and we’re still holding bassist Nikki Sixx to his promise to play a show naked if the Seahawks lost Super Bowl XLIX to our Patriots.
