One Light Stand: Hot Chip plan to make new album artwork in 501 unique colors

Once they were ready for the floor. Now they’re ready to floor you with artwork.

London-based electronic music crew Hot Chip have announced their new album, Why Make Sense?, and when it arrives May 19, it’ll have a distinct brand of uniqueness to its packaging. The record will be produced with cover art variations due to a specialized printing technique that will produce each album in one of 501 colors.

Levi’s would be proud.

“Due to a unique and bespoke printing technique, new album Why Make Sense? will come in one of 501 different colors,” writes Domino Records which will issue the release. “Combined with subtle variations of the design, this means every copy of the album, on both CD and LP, will feature completely unique artwork.”
