Back in October former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher joined Johnny Marr on stage in London, ripping through a few classics from the Smiths and Iggy Pop. Introducing Gallagher, Marr told the O2 Brixton Academy crowd: “I’d like to introduce someone who has been a friend of mine for 20 years. One of the greatest songwriters from this country. He’s a good man, I think he’s got a big future ahead of him — Mr. Noel Gallagher.”
That future involves collaboration, as it turns out.
Today Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds released another single off March’s upcoming Chasing Yesterday album, “The Ballad of the Mighty I,” and it features Marr on guitar. A video for the single has been released this morning, and you can watch that below.
It’s more than six minutes long, but there’s a Chris Martin joke at the end, so be sure to watch the entire thing and get the day started right.
“The Ballad of the Mighty I” is out as a single on February 23, a week before Chasing Yesterday’s anticipated March 2 release date.
