Going Blank Again: Ride confirm 2015 reunion, announce North American dates and festival gigs

Well, that escalated quickly.

Yesterday began with speculation of a Ride reunion and a possible appearance at the 2015 Primavera Sound festival in Spain, and ended with not only confirmation, but a pair of North American dates. The beloved British shoegaze band will be coming to our continent for the first time in roughly two decades when they play Toronto’s DanForth Music Hall on June 2 and Terminal 5 in New York City.

There’s no Boston date just yet, but additional shows for the fall seem inevitable. The full list of spring 2015 shows are below, which also includes appearances at Primavera Sound in Spain and Field Day in England.

Banners depicting the familiar Ride block-letter logo mysteriously popped up yesterday in Barcelona, fueling speculation the band would reform for Primavera, much like fellow shoegazers Slowdive did last year.

Ride broke up in 1996 after releasing some of the most influential albums in British music, including 1990’s Nowhere and 1992’s Going Blank Again. Guitarist Andy Bell was recently playing bass with Oasis and Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye, and those band’s breakups, in particular Beady Eye’s recent split, added to rumors that a Ride reunion could be in order. The massive success of the recent Slowdive reunion, which toured the world and sold out Boston’s Royale last month, was also a likely factor.

Here are the bands dates so far
