Back in the 2000s, we always felt there was this unofficial battle for best band name found on show flyers plastered around Allston. It came down to two heavy bands essentially offering up the same grim sentiment: Hard rock/metal trio We’re All Gonna Die, and underground thrash dudes As Long As We’re All Living We’re All Dying.
As we await that eventual ALAWALWAD reunion somewhere in the seedy depths of Denby Road, We’re All Gonna Die have announced a string of reunion shows, their first in five years, with some new-ish music on the way.
They play Great Scott on July 19 before jetting up north for two additional gigs in New Hampshire and Maine. The current line-up features Jim Healey on vocals and guitars (Black Thai, Jim Healey Band), bassist Jesse Sherman (Tired Old Bones), and drummer Scott Healey (Gut, Give Up!).
“We haven’t played in 5 years,” says Healey in a presser. “I felt it was time to get together, play a few shows, and see where things went from there. The band will probably only ever play a few shows a year, but it’s great to play together, and see the fans.”
We’re All Gonna Die is celebrating the reunion with a re-boot of “Pleurisy,” a song written in 2007 but never recorded. “It will be
available for download along with five other unreleased WAGD tracks, spanning the history of the band in all its member formations,” Healey adds.
Check the full dates below, and tune in to Boston Emissions on WZLX 100.7 FM this Sunday for a We’re All Gonna Die live performance. We’ll probably hear “Pleurisy” that night as well.
