Watch Damon Albarn perform ‘This Is A Low’ on Fallon; win tickets to Monday’s Royale show

Here’s a good way to start the day: Damon Albarn is in New York this weekend for a performance at Governors Ball Music Festival, so the one-time Blur and Gorillaz frontman dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night.

For the televised slot, Albarn performed a new song, “Lonely Press Play,” off his recent solo debut Everyday Robots. But for the web exclusive, things got even better, as Albarn sang and played piano on “This Is A Low,” a celebrated, 20-year-old Blur track that was one of the closing numbers off Blur’s 1994 Britpop classic, Parklife.

Over recent live sets in Europe, Albarn has played a limited number of Blur selections, most notably “Out of Time” (off 2003’s Think Tank) and “Tender” (from 1999’s self-titled record). “This Is A Low” has been a frequent encore song, however, so hopefully he includes it in his Boston show Monday, June 9 at Royale.

Oh, and speaking of — our Damon Albarn ticket giveaway ends TODAY at noon EST, so get in while you can. Just emailed michael@vanyaland.com with DAMON in the subject line and we’ll select one winner at random, good for a pair of passes to the show.
