Minor Arcana: Watch two 7th graders interview Speedy Ortiz (warning: Spice Girls content)

Northampton rock band Speedy Ortiz offer up new EP Real Hair next week via Carpark Records, and the record release party goes down this Saturday night at Tasty Burger in Harvard Square. The show is all-ages, which is probably music to the ears of Olivia and Connie of Kids Interview Bands, a pair of 7th graders who recently sat down with the quartet for a little Q&A action.

Of course, Kids Interview Bands is based in Columbus, Ohio, so chances are the gals won’t be in Cambridge this weekend. Which is a shame, since their interview with Speedy Ortiz is pretty good (and maybe better than their Slayer interview). In the clip, they ask Sadie Dupuis and company a host of questions, like which food is better homemade than bought in a restaurant, if they have ever broken a bone (spoiler alert: Matt has!) and whether or not they can name all the Spice Girls.

We’ve already asked them to come work for Vanyaland.

Meanwhile, Speedy’s record release bash is presented by the fine folks at Boston Hassle, and also features the Channels, Sneeze, and Idiot Genes.

Check out the sludgy first offering, “American Horror,” and feel free to stream Real Hair via pitchfork.
