Slayer announces North American tour, will play Lowell’s Tsongas Arena on November 30

The spring death of founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman has not slowed down Slayer. After announcing dates in New York, Los Angeles, and Austin’s FunFunFun Fest, the thrash metal legends have expanded their run into a full 17-date North American run which wraps up November 30 at Lowell’s Tsongas Arena. Tickets to all shows go on sale Friday, and slayer.net has the details.

Guitarist Gary Holt will continue to fill in for Hannemen, who died May 2 of liver failure. In one of the first pieces we posted to the re-launched Vanyaland, Daniel Brockman’s eulogized the influential guitarist.

Bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King have reportedly begun work on new material, and word is they’ll hit the studio before this tour picks up on October 22, meaning a new Slayer record is likely for 2014.

Gojira and 4ARM will provide support on all dates, and more shows are expected to be announced. Check out the full run below.
