The “Right” way: New Franz Ferdinand album arriving in August

Well do ya, do ya, do ya wanna… wanna… want a new FRANZ FERDINAND record? Regardless, there’s one on the way, the Scottish modern indie band’s first since 2009.

It seems like ages ago when, in 2004, the world was introduced to Franz Ferdinand, Glasgow’s finest contribution to the post-punk revival. “Take Me Out” was an instant hit climbing the international rock charts, and since then, Franz Ferdinand has enjoyed continued success. Following up on 2009’s Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, which featured the hit “Ulysses,” Alex Kapranos and company are to release their fourth studio album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action August 27 via Domino Records.

Over the past year Franz have been testing new material on live audiences. New tracks like “Bullet” and “Stand On the Horizon” are classic Franz Ferdinand – poppy guitar melodies, hi-hat heavy drums, danceable beats and infectious vocal hooks.

I was lucky enough to hear both of these songs when the band played an impromptu basement show at the Vacation boutique in San Francisco, as a warm-up for their Coachella gigs. It’s been weeks now and I still can’t get them out of my head.

Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action will be available on a variety of formats
including CD, digital download and vinyl. Domino will also be releasing limited edition bonus packages. The album in all its formats is available for pre-order now from Domino’s online store.
