A wise man from the ’80s once told us that “life moves pretty fast,” and that’s certainly been the case for Kero Kero Bonito. The noisy London alt-pop trio dropped their sophomore album, Time ‘n’ Place, on Monday (October 1), just a fortnight after announcing a deal with Polyvinyl Records, and their October 16 show at Brighton Music Hall in Allston sold out faster than you can say the band’s name twice. “More than ever music needs to be set free, because it can be anything,” Kero Kero Bonito state upon the LP drop. “So we just decided to do whatever the fuck we wanted.” Time ‘n’ Place is a wild record that blends both styles and cultures, but the true standout is “Flyway”, a lounge-y, shoegaze-y comet of a tune that sounds something between Pizzicato Five and Lush. We can’t fucking get enough of it, and you can add it to your Best of 2018 lists after spinning it a million times off Spotify below. Featured image via Powerline Agency.
