People have been bitching about the themes of the recent American Horror Story seasons for years now, and show co-creator Ryan Murphy has finally taken said bitchage to (his cold, cold, sick) heart.
Despite the overall satisfaction with cult theme of season seven of the FX show, the fan favorites among the lot remain seasons one and three: Murder House, where the show got its demented, blood-drenched start, and Coven, a slightly more glamorous backdrop for the program, yet equality unhinged and gory. This year, both worlds collide in season eight of the FX show, according to a tweet from Murphy yesterday (June 14).
“The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won’t be happening next year… because it’s happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER,” he wrote.

Murphy has previously confirmed that all seven seasons of AHS to date take place in the same universe, and revealed some direct ties between the characters and plots of the different seasons, but this full-fledged crossover will be an unprecedented move for the series.
While Murphy has yet to release the official title of the new season or when the first episode drops, the announcements can’t be far out, seeing that the series typically kicks off in September or October. What’s more, Jessica Lange exited the TV show after season four, but seeing that she played a major character in both Murder House and Coven — one of which still hypothetically survives — there’s room for Lange to return.
Looks like Infinity War has some competition for “cultural crossover of the year.”
