Studio 52 Spotlight: Nemes
What Studio 52 Says: Nemes have been hard at work this decade. Their rightful recognition has placed them in countless gigs most bands in their scene would be jealous of. Since the release of their full-length LP I Carry Your Heart in the fall of 2014, Nemes have been seen at such events like opening for Boston legends Guster, taking the stage at Boston Calling (2016), and making the finals of the 2015 Rock And Roll Rumble. Their inexplicable indie-folk has been turning heads in a genre that’s been increasingly more and more popular and ofttimes imitated the past few years. The difference with Nemes is their raw talent and hard DIY work ethic that pushes them above the herd. The four-piece manages a sound that works just as well acoustically as it does heavy. Their multi-part vocal melodies are perfectly overlaid, but never dominated, with string instruments that match the tone and tempo of each track. As of the start of this year, Nemes has been working on a new EP that we’re quite excited to hear. For now, though, you can catch them at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston tonight (March 16) with North by North, Cruel Miracle, and our friends and former Studio 52 Featured Band The Devil’s Twins. — Andrew Maroney, Studio 52
