King Tuff, giver of brilliant neo-psychedelica like 2014’s Black Moon Spell, has dropped his first new tune in four long, trip-less years. “The Other,” a song that Kyle Thomas says is “about hitting rock bottom,” strips away much of the project’s known garage rock groove, but keeps the potent thought process. “‘The Other’ is basically where songs come from,” Thomas explains. “It’s the hidden world. It’s the mystery. It’s the invisible hand that guides you whenever you make something. It’s the thing I had to rediscover-the sort of voice I had to follow-to bring me back to making music again in a way that felt true and good.” Sounds about par for the course; its warmth is just what we need on this frigid Wednesday in New England.
