Vanyaland 4th Anniversary Party Spotlight: no hope/no harm

On Friday (May 19), Vanyaland celebrates its 4th anniversary with a little get-together at Hojoko in the Fenway. All are welcome to join us at our favorite izakaya as raise a glass to the past, present, and future and welcome live performances by electronic-pop project Photocomfort, and the newly-formed guitar-rock supergroup no hope/no harm (featuring members of The Sheila Divine, The Field Effect, and The Good North). There will be other surprises unveiled between then and now, and there is no cover or admission fee to come party with us at this all-ages celebration.

Spotlight: no hope/no harm

The Word: no hope/no harm are a Boston four piece lead by Aaron Perrino of The Sheila Divine and Dear Leader, and longtime Boston journalist Luke O’Neil, formerly of the band The Good North. The project began out of the duo’s shared love of emo — bassist James F. Forbes and former Field Effect drummer Adam Hand were brought on board after a singalong at O’Neil’s Emo Night Boston. Traces of all permutations of that broad genre — from twinkling, prettier sad songs, to screaming post-hardcore, and tightly-wound pop-punk show up throughout their material, at turns literary-minded or arch and self-referential, but always meant to break your heart.
