Sometimes we overwrite posts with too much information, too much copy, and too many useless details, and sometimes we’re just like “Oh hey, Iggy Pop joined New Order on stage last night at New York’s Carnegie Hall, and together they performed the Joy Division classic ‘She’s Lost Control.'”
Of course, some context is necessary: New Order were playing the fabled concert hall for a Tibet House benefit show to celebrate Philip Glass’ 80th birthday. In addition to the Joy Division classic — can we smell a Joy Division 2018 tour with Pop as frontman? — the legendary players also busted out a rendition of “Stray Dog,” Pop’s collaboration with New Order from their 2015 LP Music Complete, and Pop’s own song “Shades.”
Patti Smith, Alabama Shakes, and others also took the stage during the evening. Watch some fan-filmed footage below, via the NME.
New Order return to NYC to play Radio City Music Hall on April 13 before heading west for select gigs, including an appearance at Coachella. Full dates are here.
