Last week word surfaced that the Jesus And Mary Chain will be releasing a new album in 2017, and today comes news that another one-time Creation Records luminary, Saint Etienne, could be doing the same.
The British pop group today announced a pair of Christmas gatherings set for next month, and in doing so revealed news (at least to us it’s news) that “Sarah, Bob, and Pete have been locked up in a North London studio for the last few weeks working on their new album.”
The Creation Records Facebook page gets a bit more specific, posting: “Here’s another former Creation Records band, Saint Etienne, releasing their new record in 2017, too. We could list all the artists who are coming out with new releases in 2017… but what fun would that be?!!!”
The new LP from Saint Etienne would be thier first since 2012’s Words and Music by Saint Etienne, released by Heavenly/Universal UMC.
Speaking of fun, the Saint Etienne Christmas parties will find the trio DJing “a wonderful array of hits and misses,” and they go down December 15 at Caroline Social Club in West Yorkshire, and December 19 at London’s Moth Club London. “[W]ith December fast approaching, and the news from the outside world being so unremittingly bleak, thoughts have turned to letting their hair down and playing some loud pop music,” the group writes online. “Both venues are gorgeous but quite bijoux, so tickets are strictly limited (just 200 for each party).”
Start lining up to request their ’90s hit “I Was Born On Christmas Day” oh… right about now.
