Video Premiere: Aüva experience summertime parklife in debut clip for ‘Better’

There are few things better than Allston in the summertime, and nestled deep within the concrete neighborhood is a hidden jewel called Ringer Park. It’s a safe haven far from the student ravages and daily hustle, and provides the backdrop for the debut video from Boston’s surfy psychedelic dream-pop band Aüva.

The band ventures out into the sun on “Better, a crisp jangle-popped guitar-rock tune that transports us back to the sound of vibrant music scenes of yesterday. And it’s the lead track off the band’s debut album, set for release August 6.

“The video was done by our guitar player, Jake LeVine, with the help of our good friend Evan Xiner Hong,” Aüva drummer Michael Piccoli tells Vanyaland. “Jake did the majority of the shots besides the ones he had to be in, and all of the video editing himself. As far as the album goes, we really just recorded everything in the dance studios of The Boston Conservatory, actually using some of the microphones that our guitarist Jake built himself. All of the tunes started as simple melodies that one of us presented, and we put everything together as a group or in small groups, everyone does their part as far as writing and arranging go. Mixing was done by Jake and everything was mastered by our friend Nate Patsfall.”
