Last week we joined the rest of the music-loving world by being floored by the sheer volume of awesome at this year’s Riot Fest. The two music festivals — September 2 to 4 in Denver and then September 16 to 18 in Chicago — are led by a reunion of the classic-lineup Misfits, and augmented by dozens and dozens of must-see bands.
The Chicago lineup, as confirmed on the flyer (stare at it below), is headlined by the Misfits, Ween, and Morrissey — but now the former Smiths frontman, who turned 57 years young yesterday, says that he is not actually confirmed to play the Windy City at all.
In a post today on official fan site True To You, which also serves as Morrissey’s personal forum, the following message has appeared: “As of this date (May 23), Morrissey is not a part of this year’s Chicago Riot Fest.”
Who knows what’s really going on here.
