That ‘real Minneapolis shit’: Watch Titus Andronicus and Craig Finn cover the Replacements

Celebrated New Jersey punk band Titus Andronicus have one of the summer’s most anticipated releases in new LP The Most Lamentable Tragedy, so it was only fitting that the dudes would have something special planned for last night’s release party at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn. Wrapping up a five night-stand at the venue on the day of the epic album’s street date, the band teamed up with Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn for a pretty raucous cover of the Replacements’ 1985 classic, “Bastards Of Young.”

SPIN notes that in addition to Finn singing one of his own songs (“Stuck Between Stations”) and Billy Joel’s “You May Be Right,” the frontman was also invited up by Titus to lay down some “real Minneapolis shit,” and he delivered.

Unfortunately there are only snippets of the performance available online this morning, but more should surface soon.

And with The Most Lamentable Tragedy now officially presented to the world, Titus can set their sights on their fall Around The World tour, a massive jaunt that crashes into Allston’s Brighton Music Hall on October 15. We feel like that’s a bit of an underplay, but it’ll be one sweet sweatbox of a show.
