Editor’s Note: With a brand new year comes new shows, new faces, and a new format for Vanyaland’s recurring weekly live comedy rundown, Mic’d Up. We’ll be hyping club shows, theater and arena gigs, open mics, and whatever else to help fill your free time with some much-needed laughter.

Amidst constant chaos and struggle nowadays, the ability to relax is a prized opportunity on a daily basis. In the eyes of Russell Peters, it’s also an opportunity to let loose and unleash a couple laughs while he’s in town.

As part of his Relax World Tour, Peters returns to the area this week for a double dose of his globally-recognized storytelling mastery, starting with one night at The Wilbur in Boston on Wednesday (January 15) and followed by a show at Medford’s Chevalier Theatre on Thursday (January 16).

In addition to his latest massive tour that has once again brought him all over the world, Peters also released his most recent stand-up special Act your Age Live in Abu Dhabi on his Patreon channel in December 2024, his first since 2020. And with his work on stage, the Toronto native has also lent his talents to the screen with roles in a number of movies and TV shows including The Neighborhood on CBS, the HBO Max animated series Velma, and Michael Jai White’s Outlaw Johnny Black in 2023.

RUSSELL PETERS :: Wednesday, January 15 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 p.m., $59 to $229 :: Advance tickets
