Pro-tip: If you have a friend who is constantly carrying an empty jar around with them, do not break it. First off, it’s just rude as hell — that person is just a big Cubs fan and could be saving valuable air from Wrigley Field they captured on their last trip to Chicago or something — and you just have to accept their quirks for what they are. Secondly, there’s a decent chance they might be holding on to a demon, in which your self-control is the only thing separating you and getting your ass exorcised after ruining every one of your relationships.
As rare as it might be, this second scenario is the subject of the new horror film It Lives Inside, which documents exactly what happens when one decides to listen to Fred Durst and break stuff. Neon dropped a new trailer for the SXSW hit earlier on Tuesday, and boy, that’s one scary-ass 60 seconds.
Peep it:
Here’s a synopsis, courtesy of SXSW:
“Sam, an Indian-American teen, lives in an idyllic suburb with her conservative mother and her assimilated father. Sam’s cultural insecurities grow due to her estranged friend, Tamira, who mysteriously carries around an empty mason jar all the time. In a moment of anger, Sam breaks Tamira’s jar and unleashes an ancient Indian demonic force that kidnaps Tamira. Sam searches for Tamira, following the trail of a young man who performed a deadly ritual, until the demonic entity starts targeting her, murdering her boyfriend and shattering her reality with terrifying visions. Sam must band together with her parents and a sympathetic teacher to save Tamira and put an end to the terror of the demon.”
It Lives Inside will emerge on September 22, screaming onto theater screens across the country. Get ready. We know you’re not, but just pretend that you are.
