Eva Longoria’s ‘Flamin’ Hot’ trailer will scald your taste buds

Say what you will about SXSW, but they’ve got a track record of selling its attendees (and the general public) on decently unconventional films. We saw the best proof of that when Everything Everywhere All At Once — winner of the Audience Award and all sorts of other prizes at the fest — basked in Oscar glory and raked in some serious cash. This year’s honoree is about as far away stylistically as you can get from that. Get this: It’s a movie about the dude who may (or may not) have invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. And it’s directed by Eva Longoria, of all people. Regardless, Flamin’ Hot is apparently a big ol’ hit with audiences, and you can check out the film’s first trailer below. This is culinary Oppenheimer, folks, so please treat it with some respect.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis, which does a pretty good job of letting you know exactly what you’re getting into here:

“‘Flamin’ Hot’ is the story of Richard Montañez, the Frito Lay janitor who channeled his Mexican American heritage and upbringing to turn Flamin’ Hot Cheetos into a snack that disrupted the food industry and became a global phenomenon.”

Flamin’ Hot will spice up Hulu and Disney+ on June 9. In case you haven’t heard, those two services are about to become one — Disney’s buying out Comcast’s shares and will unite the apps under a single banner, which puts us in line to be treated like the rest of the world. It’s strange to think how weird of a phenomenon early Hulu was, with the major cable networks working together to try and fight off Netflix before we truly descended into a la carte hell. At this point, just go ahead and bring back cable subscriptions. It might actually be cheaper for everybody.
