Siobhán Winifred reflects on the aftermath of a breakup with ‘This House’

Via Longevity PR

We’ve all experienced the misfortune of seeing a former lover back out in the wild with new prey, and how we respond in the moment can define our immediate future. A bold approach can lead to a confrontation that often comes with immediate regret; while a quick retreat can bring on frozen feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Siobhán Winifred has opted for the latter, and the London-based Irish artist has channeled her experience into a melancholic new alt-pop lullaby called “This House.” The delicate and heartfelt track dropped early last month to widespread acclaim, and today (December 8) Winifred shares the visual, taking her heartbreak theme and placing her in the cab on the way home from the party encounter.

Fortunately, her anonymous driver isn’t too chatty, and allows Winifred to wallow in her thoughts as she reflects on the night’s unexpected turn through the familiar isolation of returning home alone.

“I wrote ‘This House’ after a house party where I saw my ex moving on,” she says. “I felt really claustrophobic and desperately wanted to leave so we focused on that idea for the music video — the taxi journey home from a house party. I think it’s a universal experience: Leaving a night out early, getting in a cab, putting your headphones in and staring out the window as it drives through the city. It’s exactly what I did the night the song was written about so it felt really authentic to recreate that.”
