Providence “based goth” duo Trigger Discipline have been sharing stages with some of our faves lately — over the summer with Dark Spring Boston, this past weekend with House of Harm in Wormtown, and tonight (October 24) with Soft Kill down in Atlanta — but it’s only a matter of time before they draw the focus entirely on them. To celebrate the spooky szn and all its mystical wonder, Alyssa Gallagher and Jae Yahkèl imbue have unveiled a new cover of Ministry’s forever unfuckwithable ’80s synth-pop anthem “Every Day Is Halloween,” now streaming via Bandcamp.
The fairly faithful cover (why fix what isn’t broken?) follows up Trigger Discipline’s July 4 rendition of Bananarama’s “Cruel Summer” and the duo’s latest album, spring’s AMERICAN GOTHICC. Their daydream doom-pop version of “Every Day Is Halloween” is a nice change of pace for those who’ve perhaps put Uncle Al’s OG recording on one too many October mixes.
“This song shall henceforth be blasted at max volume for every Halloween hang, Christmas mass, New Year’s Eve party, and any/all other gatherings, celebrations, or holidays, globally for eternity,” the duo write. “Halloween is every day.”
Sure is. Today, tomorrow, and especially next Monday.
