Belot adds up all the ways to stay youthful and free on Math’

We love a good new music scoop around here, and here’s one to drink in before it blows up after we inevitably hear it strategically placed in a pivotal scene on a Netflix or Prime show. It’s called “Math,” it comes from London native and “awkward pop” artist Belot, and we just can’t get enough of it this morning (March 9). Insanely infectious, “Math” balances both confidence and vulnerability across its glittery production, and drops just enough thump to get us out of our WFH office chairs and dance in front of our bored cats.

“’Math’ is about the struggle of not wanting a serious relationship in your youth,” Belot says. “You are entangled with this person and you care about them, but you just can’t find it in you, to settle down quite yet.”

Ironically, we think we’re going to be entering a long-term listening relationship with Belot right about now. Incredibly, she makes her live debut March 17 supporting fellow new sensation Dora Jar at London venue Lafayette. Call it pop, call it alt-pop, call it whatever.

“I love pop. Always have! And I’m not afraid to say it,” adds Belot. “I think for me, a pop song is something that is going to be so catchy it hurts. I’m going to wake up in the middle of the night and it’ll still be stuck in my head.”

Cheers to that. Add up all the ways Belot is destined to soundtrack our 2022 and get into “Math” below.
