Channing Tatum teams up with a pup in the ‘Dog’ trailer

It’s kind of weird how much we’ve missed Channing Tatum over the last few years. When the dude popped up in Free Guy for all of twenty seconds, we marked out like Chicago wrestling fans witnessing CM Punk step into the squared circle for the first time in years during an AEW show. Then again, it’s hard to rock as hard as Tatum does on a regular basis, given that the Magic Mike movies are among the best of the last decade (don’t judge us!), but we’re confident that his new project, the canine buddy comedy Dog, will delight both fans of Tatum and regular readers of whatever publication the American Kennel Club puts out. This Malinois may not have the Batman symbol on his ass, but this trailer MGM dropped earlier on Wednesday might warm your heart up on this cold-ass late-fall day.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis:

“‘Dog’ is a buddy comedy that follows the misadventures of two former Army Rangers paired against their will on the road trip of a lifetime. Army Ranger Briggs (Channing Tatum) and Lulu (a Belgian Malinois dog) buckle into a 1984 Ford Bronco and race down the Pacific Coast in hopes of making it to a fellow soldier’s funeral on time. Along the way, they’ll drive each other completely crazy, break a small handful of laws, narrowly evade death, and learn to let down their guards in order to have a fighting chance of finding happiness.”

Dog hits theaters on February 18. As the current top YouTube comment points out, it’s pretty funny that we’re getting a full slate of animal-related movies within an eight-month period — Pig, Lamb, and now, of course, Dog. What’s gonna be next? Pidgeon? Capybara? We’ve probably got a pitch for Platypus buried somewhere in one of our vaults, and it might be time for us to shoot our shot.
