Brand new day, brand new ‘Spider-Man’ trailer

Spider-Man

Speaking of superheroes, there’s one last Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer for you to check out, should you need any more convincing to go out to the multiplex in eleven days. Punisher, Hulk, Sadie Sink, yadda yadda yadda — what we really want to talk about is that hilarious Spider-Messi ad that dropped during the World Cup. Disney loves doing silly things like this (just look at the shockingly prescient Jaylen Brown spot for Disclosure Day, where he presumably got abducted by Philadelphia in exchange for Brad Stevens getting a high-tech mini fridge for his office), and we’re hyped as hell that Sony got on the bandwagon with one of the most bizarre spots in recent memory.

Anyway, congrats to Messi on a fabulous national team career, and congrats to Tom Holland for being fantastic in The Odyssey (and also absolutely delightful when asked to make pizzas with Matt Damon for the New York Times cooking section). We don’t even need to set odds, though, to tell you that Brand New Day will likely be more exciting than that World Cup final. And it’ll also have a lot less Javier Bardem. Bummer.

Take a look:

Here’s a synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:

“It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves – a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 29, which is oh-so-close that you can go ahead and pre-order your bizarro Spider-Man concessions. Yippee.
