Getting big and weird has never been an issue for the legendary likes of “Weird Al” Yankovic. Now, after more than four decades on the road, he’s about be the biggest, weirdest — and Boston-est — he’s ever been.
Pulling up to the hallowed grounds of TD Garden on Saturday (July 18) as part of the second leg of his massive Bigger & Weirder World Tour, the parody icon returns to Boston for his biggest show in the city to date alongside his career-spanning band of Jim West, Steve Jay, and Jon “Bermuda” Schwartz, as well as his longstanding support from everyone’s favorite standard-crooning clown, Puddles Pity Party.
With a full multimedia extravaganza planned for the show, including his customary mid-set costume changes, Yankovic is promising all the bells and whistles that have made him such an endearing and magnetic artist to multiple generations of fans from all over the world over the years, anchored by a setlist that is sure to pack all the fan-favorite lyrical wonders that have remained cemented in his legacy since he first set up shop in the KCPR radio station bathroom all those years ago.
If there’s one thing we know for certain, aside from the fact that fans will be singing along loud enough for keyboardist Rubén Valtierra (to whom we send our most heartfelt wishes) to hear as he continues his cancer treatments back home, it’s that Yankovic may be pulling back on sticking his leg behind his head, but he sure isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to delivering the best for his loyal legion of weirdos.
