Hulk smash puny ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ trailer

Alright, this trailer for Daniel Deston Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day looks fine and dandy — oooh, look! The Hulk! And he’s mad again! — but what we’re truly concerned about are the collectible popcorn containers that will hit your local chain multiplex. As reported on by io9, there are a number of ho-hum boring ones, but then there’s Cinemark’s. It aims to combine the souvenir cup and popcorn bucket, and good lord is it a monstrosity.

Take a look:

Yeah, that’s one hell of an awkward visual. It’s almost as bad as the one for Supergirl (we’d link to it, but it’s just a bit too NSFW), but it just barely avoids that fate by not being as hideous. Anyway, you and your buds can debate whether or not it’s worth investing in one of these things — you never know, they could always stay worthless like every Phantom Menace drink topper from Taco Bell! — after you take a look at the trailer that Sony dropped on Wednesday afternoon.

Peep it:

Here’s a pretty solid synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day — look, guys, details!

“It’s a Brand New Day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him — and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him — sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves — a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31. If you have Amazon Prime, you can apparently see it a few days earlier, too. That means you’ll have a few extra hours to buy as many “Spider-Man Combo Containers” as your storage unit can fit.
