Intense heat? In New England — in May? Sorry mother nature, but Senseless Optimism did it first. The Lowell native (real name: Brittany Tsewole) dropped a pop-rock scorcher called “HEAT” earlier this month (May 1), following up her 2025 EP graveyard flowers. “‘HEAT’ captures the chaos of a one-sided situationship — late-night texts, empty attention, and the moment you finally decide you’re over it,” reads a statement on Senseless Optimism’s Bandcamp. The song is both an eyeroll and a final straw, as Tsewole gets the fiery last word: “You want to fight tonight, don’t you?/Argue like there’s a crowd rooting for you,” she sings, followed by the very Millennial retort “I’m not a Pokémon.” Hard to argue with that. Warm up your Memorial Day weekend below.
