Someone, somewhere, is rolling their eyes at the fact that Lady Gaga and Doechii recorded a new song for The Devil Wears Prada 2, when Gaga’s songs “Fashion” — both the ARTPOP deep cut and the little-known bop she did for Confessions of a Shopaholic — are right there. But the world could use a little spring in its step, so here comes “Runway,” a bouncy collab between the two divas.
The tune, which arrived yesterday (April 9), was co-written and co-produced by Bruno Mars and doesn’t stretch its legs past the the three-minute mark. “Runway” is definitely a “soundtrack song,” tailored to the flick and unlikely to have much of a shelf life outside of gay clubs and slumber parties. But it’s a catwalk cakewalk for Gaga, who already operates at this level of camp, and Doechii adds edge to the other suave single.
