In Massachusetts, we don’t say “I love you.” We say “GET THE BREAD! GET THE MILK!” And now, we can add to our winter salutation: “GET THE NEW MICHAEL CHRISTMAS SONG!” The Boston rapper has released a tune called “PUBLIX,” which is currently the closest thing New England has to the U.S. supermarket chain. Christmas’ latest song arrived earlier this week (February 2), a few days after its original release date, which ironically aligns with its nonchalant ethos. “I got some shit that I’m trying to prove / They tellin’ me hurry / But I ain’t gon’ rush it,” he raps over a sauntering saxophone instrumental. Per Christmas’ social media, a project called Grimace is coming later this month — and with “PUBLIX,” consider our appetites whet. Tune in below.
