Melanie Martinez offers a surprise new ‘POSSESSION’

Alright well here we are on the last Friday in January with a good news vs. bad news proposition from the maniacal “new world order” of Melanie Martinez. The “multi-platinum, multi-hyphenate global alt-pop phenomenon” outta the glowing fields of Long Island yesterday surprise dropped a new single called “POSSESSION” (the good), but it’s unfortunately not a cover of the Samhain/Danzig song (the bad). Instead it’s described as a “candy-coated gut punch” (all quotes here direct from the press release), and “with razor sharp lyricism tucked inside glossy melodies, the track peels back the ways power can masquerade as love.” It’s a silky butterfly of a modern-pop bop (our words), that’s also “haunting, satirical, and spotlights Melanie’s trademark blend of charm, mischief and bite” (their words). Hell, it makes us want to crawl inside its soul, nestle in its brain, stand it on its head, and crouch on all fours (Glenn’s words). Get yours below.
