Picture Parlour chat us up to summer speed with the frenzied ‘Talk About It’

January is forever the cruelest month. The weather sucks, the good tidings of the holidaze are dead and buried in a dirty frozen snow bank, and chances are we’ll suddenly hear a song from last year that probably woulda cracked our Best of 2025 list had we bopped when it dropped. That’s our catch-up approach today as we hype Picture Parlour’s soaring summer single “Talk About It,” a rousing storm of modern indie that transports us back to the mid-aughts dance floor. Ironically, this fit of guitar-rock and post-punk brilliance from the Manchester band is all about letting go, and here we are clinging to a banger that dropped months ago. But some things simply overrule a timestamp. “At a certain point, writing this song stopped feeling like an escape and started feeling like a mantra,” says Picture Parlour’s Katherine Parlour and Ella Risi. “‘Talk About It’ said everything we couldn’t be bothered to explain anymore. You can bring a horse to water but who knows if it’s going to drink? So instead we fucked off the horse and wrote an anthem for letting go. And now we want to share that euphoria with you.” Sorry we’re so late.
