Watch the final trailer for ‘Greenland 2: Migration’

Gerard Butler is January’s strongest soldier. Seriously, the Hot Scot single-handedly keeps multiplexes going in the slower months, and this month is no exception ot the rule. Hence, Greenland 2: Migration, Ric Roman Waugh’s follow-up to his pandemic-era disaster flick. No, it wasn’t about the US invading Greenland in the traditional sense, but rather that the Danish territory was the only place for Butler and family to flee after a massive comet collided with the planet. Now, they gotta live there, forced to emerge from their shelter into a changed and violent landscape.

We’re absolute suckers for loglines like this — the follow-up to a disaster movie is where truly crazed creativity emerges (After Worlds Collide, anyone?) — and, when paired with 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, it’s pretty exciting that we’re getting two sequels in this vein in one month. Lionsgate dropped the “final” trailer for the film earlier on Monday, and it looks like serviceable, fun-as-hell slow-season fare. You know what you’re getting into — if you want “quality,” go see Marty Supreme or No Other Choice.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis for Greenland 2: Migration:

“In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the earth, ‘GREENLAND 2: MIGRATION’ follows the Garrity family (Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis) as they’re forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home.”

Greenland 2: Migration hits theaters on January 9. Which, astonishingly enough, is this Friday. Go ahead and get your tickets. Maybe a collectible popcorn bucket as well. We’re joking, but we don’t doubt that AMC and the chains tried to get a plastic globe with a craggy hole in it (for you to get your popcorn out of) until tariffs wrecked that idea.
