Before Layzi gives her all as a performer at this year’s Boston Calling, she’s delivering a new single called “everything i have.”
The song, which arrived earlier this week (May 6), is a bedroom-pop devotional, soft but serious in its adoration. Much like Layzi’s current collection of summer bummers, “everything i have” nurses a bittersweet tone, as the Boston artist grapples with the nerves that accompany new love. “I’ll tell you want you want to hear / If it means that you won’t disappear,” she offers.
“This track was written while falling in love, wrapped up in the anxiety of overwhelming feelings,” Layzi says. “This song was my way of confessing how much I care when trying to play it cool on the outside. The point of the song is simply that I would do anything for this person, but I often overcomplicate sharing how I feel because of the anxiety around it.”
