Wooll spin melancholy shoegaze with new single ‘LIC’

“LIC,” the new single from Wooll, technically isn’t a sonnet. And per the Providence band, the tune’s sound doesn’t fit squarely under “shoegaze” — they instead hear it as “shoegaze-adjacent.” But damn if “LIC” isn’t the closest thing to a shoegaze sonnet we’ll ever hear. The new song — which is short for “left in circles” — is a melancholic twister that’s laced with heart-piercing lines (peep the potency of the near-Shakespearean observation “sweetness realized much too late”). “LIC” follows the group’s brighter January single, “Thistle,” revealing an alternate mood from their forthcoming spring album. Cozy up to the latest from Wooll below.
