Anyone who reads Vanyaland on the regular knows that we routinely roll out two types of live music announcements: Band in the USA for tour unveilings and Fest Intentions for festival lineup reveals. But damned if back in the fall we were not too sure how to slot Movements‘ 2025 North American run, because while its pretty much a standard tour of the country, bringing along Citizen, Scowl, and Downward certainly gives it an eye-catching and ear-splitting festival vibe. And after months of anticipation, the tour rolls into Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway this evening (March 13).
Movements, the Orange County post-hardcore band that dropped third album Ruckus! in 2023, lead a spectrum of heavy sounds heard each night that range from hardcore to indie to shoegaze, and followed up the album last summer with shimmering new single “Afraid to Die.”
Says vocalist Patrick Miranda: “With ‘Afraid to Die,’ we were able to take the energy that was in Ruckus! and fine-tune it by exploring different realms of what this band can be and what our music can sound like, and I think we did a good job… Sonically, it’s so different than anything we’ve ever done, and yet I think it still pulls on the heartstrings as a lot of our older music does. This song is energetic and bouncy, and I can see it being a really fun song to play live.”
Maybe we’ll hear it tonight. Hell, maybe they’ll open with it.
