This is usually the time of year when For Your Consideration emails start crashing our collective inboxes, reminding us of all the cool shit that came out in 2024 in hopes that a track or a video or an album might land on some “Best of” lists. Hinds are taking a different approach, rolling from city to city to show off just why September’s VIVA HINDS deserves all the praise, regardless of where we are in the calendar.
Tonight (October 28), the Spanish indie-pop band led by co-vocalists and co-guitarists Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote bring the goods to Brighton Music Hall in Allston, an evening made all the more festive and celebratory by marking the 500th show from Mark Kates’ Fenway Recording Sessions.
VIVA HINDS features collaborations with Beck and Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten, but the real juice is contained in February’s buoyant and bratty single called “Coffee” that reminds us why we fell in love with the band in the first place.
“’Coffee’ is a sincericide, screaming the nasty truth as loud as you can with no shame,” the band declared around its release. “It’s about admitting to all the things you’re not supposed to like or doing all the things you’re not meant to do. It’s a lot of fun when you can be fully honest and shut that little voice in your head that tells you what you should or shouldn’t do.”
Hard agree. Drop it into your own consideration bowl below.
