This Show Is Tonight: Air take us back out on a ‘Moon Safari’

Courtesy of Crossroads Presents

Where were you in 1998? Probably vibing along to Air’s Moon Safari, allowing the brain to melt over electronic music in a way it may never have before and feeling cooler than literally anyone else around you as the beats and treats filled the headphones of your Sony CD Discman.

All these (meaningless?) years later, the French duo of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel now take their classic debut album out on the North American road for some 25th anniversary affection, landing at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway tonight (October 15) for some autumnal seduction. It’s the first time Air will perform the record in full on this continent, according to reports, and the show will be augmented by other faves from their catalog and the usual Air visual experience.

Moon Safari also recieved the anniversary deluxe edition reissue treatment earlier this year, featuring rarities, demos, videos, BBC sessions, and a Blu-ray version of the album containing a Dolby Atmos mix. We didn’t appreciate the simplicity of the late-’90s as they were happening, so this is a nice time machine back to better days.

AIR PLAY ‘MOON SAFARI’ :: Tuesday, October 15 at MGM Music Hall at Fenway, 2 Lansdowne St. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., all ages, $52 to $162 :: Event info :: Advance tickets
