Sienna Spiro finds hope on a dramatic ride home with ‘Taxi Driver’

Sometimes the best advice is not simply a car ride away, but during the trip. And sometimes the best therapist in that particular moment is the person behind the wheel. That’s what presented itself for Sienna Spiro, the London-based 19-year-old alt-pop singer-songwriter who penned new dramatic single “Taxi Driver” after a stressful night out turned suddenly therapeutic.

The cinematic video, directed by Elliot Hensford and filmed in the back of a New York City taxi, premiered on YouTube today (October 7). It relays the sweeping ballad’s sensation of finding comfort in the anonymity of a stranger, and how that person’s objectivity in a difficult time can help a person see through through the darkness.

Though perhaps reality is not always aligned with perception, as the visual may suggest.

“’Taxi Driver’ is based on a true story,” Spiro says. “After a night out finding out some of the worst news I’ve ever received, I got into a taxi and started pouring out to the driver, crying and telling him everything. He drove for an hour and I felt such a connection with him. This story stuck with me.”
