Blind Pilot, January 31
Hey there, welcome back Blind Pilot. The celebrated Portland indie-folk band are back with their first new album in eight years, last month’s In The Shadow Of The Holy Mountain, and now comes news of a 2025 North American tour that braves the elements and plays Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on January 31. And speaking of “Brave,” that’s the album’s glistening lead single, a track that helped the band’s Israel Nebeker come out on the other side from a years-long journey — deemed both geographically and spiritually — to reclaim his voice as an artist and songwriter and reconnect with his ancestry through visions. The result plays out across the new record. “That vision involved my most immediate ancestors beckoning me along a path that went straight into a mountain, and I knew right then that the mountain represented the origins of all of us,” Nebeker says. “It’s funny because I wrote many of these songs without fully understanding them, but when I listened back later it hit me how much of the album is about ancestral lines and connection, gifts passed down and ties that persist.” Tickets go on sale Friday (September 27) at 10 a.m. local time.
