This Show Is Tonight: Taking Back Sunday are so this summer

Late last year, Taking Back Sunday hit us with a new album in 152, the Long Island emo survivalists eighth overall and first in seven years. Now the dudes have spent much of the spring and summer showing it off across the country, and their two-part, 37-date North American tour that brings Citizen along for the ride begins its final stretch by playing Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway tonight (August 14).

Recent setlists look pretty solid, and no one needs to convince us that hearing some new jams alongside emo classics like “Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut From the Team),” “You’re So Last Summer,” and “MakeDamnSure” isn’t a proper way to spend a midweek summer night.

But, most importantly, how’s the band feeling these days?

“Man, just taking it all in,” Taking Back Sunday share in a press statement. “We’ve been on a whirlwind on finishing the record, getting everything ready to put it out, making all the plans. Now comes our other favorite part, getting to visit so many cities in North America and playing live. The set will be a good mixture of albums and the reception for 152 has been so positive that we can’t wait to get out there and play some of those songs for the first time in these cities and make magic all summer. Citizen also put out a great new record so we’re going to have a good time together. Can’t wait.”

Same, buds. Check out our reviews of Taking Back Sunday’s shows here in town back in 2019 and 2018, and fire up 152 below.
