Makes My Blood Dance tap the vein of love with ‘Heavy Metal Armour’

Being billed as an “electro-goth-punk, disco-metal group” can really take one’s emotions to some strange, far-off places. But Makes My Blood Dance only want to take us to the party. And when we get there, the Brooklyn misfits have provided some much-needed “Heavy Metal Armour” through a high-octane torrent of beats n’ treats to help us fend off shit relationships.

With perhaps the best band name since You Love Her Coz She’s Dead (fuck, that band was awesome), Makes My Blood Dance today (August 7) unleash a thunderous romp through the dark nightclubs and into illuminated companionship. “Heavy Metal Armour” is all about the emotional exterior we all need in surviving the flesh combat that is a person-to-person love affair.

“I do anyway because I’m so sensitive and I’m frequently struggling mentally, especially with relationships,” says frontman EV0. “It’s about coming together, making time for each other, not letting work or obligations derail the romance and excitement of being with someone. I don’t believe that romance should be limited to vacations or date nights. Many people lose themselves in the pressures of life and it gets stale and boring to me and I want to run. I recognize that there is a level of fear in that half of the equation, but relationships take two. That’s what ‘Heavy Metal Armour’ is about, for me.”

The track arrives with a colorful video that looks like it was shot in that loft where we assume like 67 percent of all ’80s videos were filmed. Adds our dude: “It’s a pretty erotic video, which again, is me, but I’m not embarrassed or afraid to say so. I direct and create these videos with Jon [Kristian, guitarist] and it’s beautiful to make them and to act out the story.”
