Happy Pride month, everyone! It looks like Sony Pictures is gonna help us kick it all off in true camp fashion by dropping the trailer for Kelly Marcel’s Venom: The Last Dance, which is a goofy title for an exceptionally goofy franchise to go out on (if only there had been six of these movies to go alongside each Jordan championship). Look, in case you’re not in the know, the Venom movies are probably the most overtly LGBTQ+ superhero franchise — the relationship between Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and the alien creature that is joined at the hip with him (also Tom Hardy) is basically just stripped straight from a queer romantic comedy — and we’re absolutely stoked to see more of Hardy’s insane physical comedy and whatever goofy shit they’ve got cooked up for him and the ensemble this time around.
The trailer hit pretty early this morning, so knock back an Advil and some Gatorade and power through the migraine to check it out — you’ll have a good time.
Peep it:
Here’s a synopsis that is a little too serious for the movie it’s describing:
“In ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 25, and you better bet we will camp out for this shit like it’s The Phantom Menace. Seriously, people are going to realize just how incredible this silly little franchise was in 20 years after we’ve had MCU Venom and serious, gritty Venom.
