Duster, with Dirty Art Club, October 5
The re-emergence of Duster has been something to behold. The ’90s-era reclusive experimental indie rock band from San Jose, often described as slowcore or space rock, had been on hiatus for nearly 20 years. But a series of Numero Group reissues and sudden popularity on TikTok with the kids has now given the project the type of attention and fame that eluded it in the early going. The continued rise has led to larger rooms and sold out shows, and a 24-date North American tour for the fall delivers Duster to Citizens House of Blues in Boston on October 5. Here’s how Duster describes things: “duster is a reclusive experimental electronic slowcore(?) band consisting of two multi-instrumentalist members — ewing clay parton and canaan dove amber… the band formed when parton and amber started recording themselves on cassette four track machines at home in the mid to late 1990s. they released a few records between 1997 and 2000, and then took a brief break until 2018. in 2019, they released a self-titled lp on muddguts, and numero group reissued all their previous records as the capsule losing contact box set. in 2022, they released their 4th LP, together.” Tickets go on sale Friday (May 10) at 10 a.m. local time.
