Even with her proclaimed eponymous holiday falling in the summer last year in the city of Boston, it’s certainly no stretch to say any of us would be more than okay with celebrating Sam Jay in the fall too — so that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
As announced earlier this week, the hustling all-star comedian will be making her way back to Boston as part of her next tour, with one night at The Wilbur on September 7. In addition to the release of her critically-acclaimed 2023 HBO special, Salute Me of Shoot Me, the Dorchester native also co-created and co-starred the hit HBO comedy series Bust Down, which premiered in 2022, and has also appeared as a guest in a slew of hit podcasts including Stavvy’s World, You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out, and the Questlove Supreme podcast, among others.
Dynamic Irish duo Johnny B and Johnny Smack will be bringing their 2 Johnnies podcast across the pond for a little world tour action, and stopping by The Wilbur on June 21. With a reach of over 500,000 people every week, the smash hit podcast also became the first podcast to occupy a stadium when they gathered 20,000 fans at Cork’s Marquee.
Laura Ramoso brings her multi-faceted comedy extravaganza to The Wilbur on September 19 as part of her Sit Up Straight tour, where she will combine elements of stand-up and character work to deliver a fast-paced tour-de-force that brings the voices of her highly successful social media presence to life on stage. In 2022, she introduced her critically-acclaimed live show Frances, before bringing in to sold-out crowds at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and London’s SoHo Theatre.
Andrew Callaghan will once again bring the magic of his highly successful and entertaining approach to investigative journalism to a live audience as he sets the premiere of his untitled documentary film for June 13 at Medford’s Chevalier Theatre. Following the screening of the film, which Callaghan has worked on in secret over the course of the past few years, he will host a live Q&A session with the crowd.
After sold-out performances in California, Texas, and Oklahoma, Lara Marie Schoenhals and Carey O’Donnell bring their hit Sexy Unique Podcast to the Armory in Somerville on July 24 in the form of A Midsummer Night’s SUP. Part stand-up, part anthropological study, and part cabaret, the longtime comedic pairing vows to bring the same power and excitement to the stage as they’ve carried with them since Schoenhals started the show in 2017.
