The ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ trailer slaps

Bad Boys
Sony Pictures

Sony of little faith — that’s exactly what people should have said the minute that Sony Pictures announced that they’d be putting a Bad Boys sequel in the middle of fucking January. Of course, they couldn’t have anticipated that Bad Boys for Life would have been one of three major hits before COVID fucked everything up theatrically, but that movie somehow managed to make half a billion dollars before it all kicked off.

What’s weird is the bad luck that seemed to follow the production in the aftermath — directors Adil and Bilall had their Batgirl picture canceled when Warner Bros. realized that making Reddit mad was only slightly less bad than bankruptcy, and we’d just like to gesticulate wildly in Will Smith’s direction to sum up everything else.

Still, if there’s one thing that heals all wounds, it’s bringing the gang back together for another fun picture, especially when you’ve got Martin Lawrence on set. That sequel, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, is gonna hit later on in the summer, and Sony dropped the first trailer for the flick earlier on Tuesday. We, unsurprisingly, are pumped.

Peep it:

Here’s a short synopsis:

“This Summer, the world’s favorite Bad Boys are back with their iconic mix of edge-of-your seat action and outrageous comedy but this time with a twist: Miami’s finest are now on the run.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die hits theaters on June 4, which is exactly how it should be. These movies are peak summer experiences — seriously, in our memory, 2003 is just straight-up scored to the Bad Boys II soundtrack (although that’s not without its awkwardness following everything going on with the Artist Formerly Known as Puff Daddy). But we’re rooting for this one, mainly because Adil and Bilal got fucked so hard by the studios last time around, and because we need some more Martin Lawrence in our lives. The Martin reunion wasn’t enough.
