What business is Bea and her Business all about? We’re about the find out.
The 19-year-old London-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist dropped debut EP Introverted Extrovert last year, and it’s been a hit parade ever since (and prior, to be fair). Now queen Bea has dropped the glossy “WOW!”, caps and punctuation accepted, and it’s a coming-of-age alt-pop bop about a boy infatuation, and all the confusion and drama that comes with it. “WOW!” was written by Bea with Hiten & Bhav, and completed with famed electronic music producer Stuart Price.
Come for the hook, stay for the Bea lyric calling herself a “wet wipe.”
“I wrote this song at 17, at a time in my life where everything to do with falling in love was incredibly cringe and despicable,” Bea says with a laugh. “So I basically turned the whole song into a joke to mirror the fact that I thought I was a joke of a human being for low-key falling in love with this guy I’d been seeing for 3 days LOL! Hence the ‘I’m a wet wipe’ line. He dumped me soon after but at least I got the song! This song is definitely for the people who think they’re super badass and cold-hearted but deep down they’re absolute suckers for a bit of romance.”
Bea and the Business have a handful of shows on the calendar next month, including a sold-out gig at Lafayette in London on April 9. Get ready for a lot of Bea’s new Business headed our way in the months ahead, and pop into “WOW!” via the stream or visualizer below.
